House For an Art Lover - Photo Essay
Designed in 1901, built in 1989 and opened in 1996, it seems apt that it's taken me nearly 30 years to visit House for An Art Lover.
A Glasgow institution, an example of Mackintosh design and a haven for the gentile, House for an Art Lover sits beautifully in the surroundings of Bellahouston Park, just south of the River Clyde. Being a Glasgow School of Art graduate, Mackintosh is ingrained in my aesthetic unconsciousness, I find a real comfort and familiarity in the spaces, and the House is no different.
A beautifully limited palette of blacks, whites, purples and reds, with subtly bold architectural statements around the interior and exterior. Having waited so long to visit the House, I can definitely say it was worth the wait.
